Ways to Give
Ways to Give
The NYC Disability Pride Parade relies on mutual aid, especially amidst the termination of funding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility programs nationwide. You don't have to march or roll in the Parade to make a difference. Here are some ways you can show your support for the NYC disability community.
1) Give based on your budget (preferred):
All participating organizations and individuals are welcome to make a donation based on their budget size. And as every cent goes directly toward the Parade, you can see the impact of your donations if you attend the event! Whether from an organization or an individual, every dollar helps.
2) Support NYC Belongs: Together for All:
New York City Belongs: Together for All is a new initiative of the Project Access for All communities that asks for $140,455 in City Council Speaker’s Initiative funding for free annual events for the disability community. This includes the Disability Pride NYC Parade, the Disability Unite Festival, and Disability Pride Month borough events. That means the funds go directly to the community. We can’t get this funding without your help, so we ask you to:
Email or call your City Council Member requesting that they encourage Speaker Julie Menin to support the initiative.
Email or call Speaker Menin asking her to support the initiative.
Share the attached social media posts on your platforms with tags for Speaker Menin and your City Council Member.
Spread the word to your organization’s members.
Sign this advocacy form to raise support and awareness for the initiative (coming soon)
3) Invite others to participate:
We recommend this if you are unable to donate or to find a donor able to pay the required participation fee. Encourage others to donate, march, or support the parade through one of the following options.
Post about the Parade on social media (we recommend posting once about Parade planning, once about outreach methods, once about registration, and once post-Parade).
Personally reach out to at least 5 groups or individuals (found to be more effective)
4) Be a volunteer:
You don't need to join us on Parade day to volunteer. As a community-led movement, NYC Disability Pride relies on volunteers to help with everything from fundraising to communication to Parade planning. You can sign up to help out using our Volunteer Form: https://forms.gle/V2HLuova62qAZZi19
5) Shop disability pride gear:
Show your disability pride year-round with our official Disability Pride T-shirts! We don't make a profit from them--we charge just enough to break even so every year is bigger and better. You can learn more about the T-shirts and get ordering information via our Disability Pride Shop.
Your support helps make the parade bigger, bolder, and more inclusive, creating lasting memories for participants and amplifying visibility for the disability community.
Where Your Donation Goes
Transparency matters to us. Every donation helps make the parade possible and inclusive for all:
Accessibility Services - ASL interpretation, captioning, wheelchair-friendly routes
Event Logistics - permits, staging, safety, and parade coordination
Community Programming - performances, art stations, cultural showcases, and outreach
Funds have never been and will never be used for the purpose of advancing the individual activities of event planners or Parade sponsors, or financing pre-Parade promotion.
By giving or getting, you help to ensure that the Disability Pride Parade is not only a celebration, but also a platform for advocacy, joy, and justice.
